Cases not approved by rule sets are handled by an IBU underwriter. The IBU underwriters primary method of obtaining additional underwriting evidence is by contacting the applicant directly using their underwriting experience to “drill down” and obtain precisely the information needed for an underwriting decision. This further compresses the underwriting cycle by removing the need for questionnaires and most APS’s.
