Producer Response to the Financial Crisis: LIMRA's Views on The Fall Series (2009)

The financial services industry changed forever in 2008 as companies with household names entered bankruptcy or were acquired in deals arranged by the federal government. For the second time since the onset of the crisis, LIMRA surveyed its Individual Product Producer Panel to understand members' views of the economy and the industry's participants, and to learn how the recession has affected their businesses. Over 700 affiliated and independent producers offered their views on these and other issues. This report identifies the actions producers have taken in response to the financial crisis and includes their feedback on insurance company outreach programs.

U.K. Market Briefing (October 2009)

The Conservative Party is already setting out its stall in anticipation of forming the next UK Government come the general election in 2010. Radical proposals so far include abolishing the Financial Services Authority, Britain's pioneering fiancial services regulator, and raising the State retirement age faster than currently planned. They are also listening to a plan by a consortium of UK life offices to come up with an alternative to the Labour Government's personal savings scheme, due to be introduced in 2012.

U.K. Market Briefing (August 2009)

This edition of UK Market Briefing has a focus on UK pensioners' responses to the financial crisis. Nearly one in six retired pensioners still have mortgages to pay off, so it isn't surprising that research has found that two-thirds of retirees are carrying on working or considering a return to work. Never was the phrase 'asset rich and cash poor' more true, since research has shown that Britain's pensioners still have over £600bn tied up in housing equity.
