This program is designed for non-data scientists in strategic leadership roles who are called upon to make complex, cross-organizational decisions and want to develop a better understanding of how analytics can have a positive impact on their business results, and engage more productively with data scientists in their organization.

Program participants will earn 2 credits in the Business Acumen discipline toward the LIMRA Leadership Institute (LLIF) designation.


In this program, you will develop a financial services industry-specific understanding of how applying analytic techniques to company data. Using an actual data set, you will engage in analytics activities designed to give you first-hand knowledge.

  • Enhance your strategic decision-making abilities by understanding how to leverage and interpret data.
  • Maximize your understanding of what analytics can and can’t do in order to maximize its impact and avoid unproductive analysis.
  • Learn how to communicate more effectively with data scientists and their teams by becoming fluent in the language of analytics.

Jennifer Eigo teaches in the Operations and Information Management department at the University of Connecticut’s School of Business where she has been commended by the Provost for teaching excellence.  Her focus on experiential learning is seen both in the classroom and beyond. In her role as Associate Director of UConn’s Center for the Advancement of Business Analytics she has extensive experience building relationships with external companies and guiding students through work on real world analytics projects. Her prior professional experience includes work in Business Analytics and IT Infrastructure in the insurance and utility industries.

John is an in-residence faculty member in the UCONN School of Business Graduate Program and a past Director of UCONN's Center for the Advancement of Business Analytics. As a faculty member at UCONN, he teaches a variety of courses in the UCONN MS-BAPM and MBA programs including Predictive Modeling, Visual Analytics, Cost and Risk Management and Management Information Systems. In 2017, 2018, and 2019 John was recognized as "Most outstanding OPIM faculty member in UCONN's MBA program. In 2019, John received the prestigious UCONN School of Business Excellence in Graduate Teaching Award. He is also a member of the UCONN School of Business Hall of Fame. In addition to his UCONN duties, he continues to work as a data scientist for LIMRA and is a frequent presenter at conferences worldwide.
