WINDSOR, Conn. June 30, 2022 —Today, virtually every American is concerned about rising inflation. According to recent LIMRA research, 95% of Americans say they are worried about inflation’s impact on the quality of their lives.

Industry leaders will examine the impact of inflation, along with other external and economic factors, on the supplemental health, disability insurance (DI), and long-term care (LTC) markets at this year’s Supplemental Health, DI & LTC Conference in Washington, D.C, from August 3 – 5.

Keynoting the event is renowned practical futurist for The New York Times and columnist for NBC, Michael Rogers. Rogers will provide a realistic, customized prediction of what the insurance industry might look like in the decade ahead given new technology, processes, and software.

High inflation, COVID, remote work, and high turnover are expected to affect the DI market. In a panel discussion, industry experts will discuss potential changes to underwriting and product development for the DI market in light of new medical, financial, and occupational risks. Panelists include:

In a separate session, Matthew Morton, a principal consulting actuary for LTCG, and Sanja Zehnder, senior managing actuary for CNO Financial Group, will lead a session exploring the impact of inflation on long-term care costs and how this will affect policyholders’ benefits.

Additional concurrent sessions will cover industry innovations, regulatory and compliance updates, what's going on in Washington, claims automation, talent, wellness programs, and more that will provide attendees with actionable takeaways to make better business and product decisions.

The conference, co-hosted by LIMRA and LOMA, and the Society of Actuaries, draws leaders and professionals who operate in the supplemental health, long-term care, and DI industries.
