Who Attends

Typically, our conferences in the region are attended by CEO’s and Senior Staff coming from every corner of the EMA region.  For the very first edition of the Pan-African Conference, we expect a wide audience at every level of the strategical teams of the different members of the region.

Executive Director, Enterprise Life

Mrs. Jacqueline Benyi is currently the Executive Director of Enterprise Life, the leading life insurance company in Ghana. She has 15 years working experience in Life insurance administration with 13 years in leadership position with varied operational experiences and exposures. Jackie is also a product of the Sanlam Senior Management Development Programme which she completed at the University of Stellenbosch and the Sanlam Executive Leadership Programme at the Gordon Institute of Business Science, University of Pretoria all in South Africa. She currently is a member of the Insurance Institute of Ghana, a member of the Life Council of the Ghana Insurers Association and heads the Life technical committee for claims and underwriting. In 2014 at the maiden edition of the National Women in Finance Awards she was awarded the Insurance personality of the year 2013 and also the Nobles International Award having being inducted into the West Africa Nobles Forum in 2016.

Caroline Da Silva was appointed by the Minister of Finance to the Deputy Executive Officer position at the FSB in September 2013. In this role Caroline is the Registrar of Financial Services Providers and supervises all FSPs across all of the relevant sectors. She is also responsible for Consumer Education.

Prior to this appointment Caroline worked in the insurance industry for the last 27 years holding various positions in both the broking and underwriting disciplines as well as within the insurance industry association. She resigned as an Executive of Mutual and Federal Insurance company where she headed up Sales, to join the FSB since she felt her entire career had been leading to this particular point.

Throughout the 27 years in the industry Caroline was always actively involved in Regulation. She sat on various boards appointed by various Ministers including two FSB Advisory Boards. She was appointed to the FAIS Advisory Board 10 years ago so is not new to the FAIS environment.

Immediate Past President of the MDRT

Brian D. Heckert, CLU, ChFC, of Nashville, Illinois, served as the 2015 President of the Million Dollar Round Table (MDRT), the Premier Association of Financial Service Professionals, and is currently serving as the Immediate Past President. He is a 29-year MDRT member with eight Court of the Table and nine Top of the Table honors. Heckert is the author of two books “401knowhow-An insider’s guide to retirement planning” and “Give and Grow”, a book to assist financial advisors create and maintain study groups. He has spoken to numerous audiences around the world on the state of the financial services profession and has conducted sessions on productivity to help advisors increase their efficiency and professionalism. He is a Legion of Honor Excalibur Knight of the MDRT Foundation and a member of its Inner Circle Society. He also served on the MDRT Foundation Board of Trustees for three years and was Divisional Vice President three times.

Heckert is the CEO and founder of Financial Solutions Midwest, LLC, a financial planning firm focused on creative retirement plan design and income distribution planning. The firm has specialized in helping older advisors merge and monetize their practices while expanding the services offered to their existing clients. The firm operates four office locations throughout the Midwestern United States.

Manager, Statistics Industry Hub

Frans is head of the Statistics Industry Hub also lecturing in big data and data science at the University of Pretoria. As an associate of STATOMET he consults widely in the field of statistical and machine learning focusing, amongst others, on supervised and unsupervised predictive modelling within the banking, insurance and telecommunication sectors. Frans holds a PhD in Mathematical Statistics from the University of the North West and is the chairperson of the Data Science group of the South African Statistical Association. His current research projects focus on behavioural modelling through the determination of latent market segments. Determination of spending behaviour using debit card information is one such project. During his career he has consulted to various companies including Cenfri, Liberty Life and a new start-up mobile insurance company MobiLife.

As president and CEO of LIMRA, LOMA and their parent organization, LL Global, Inc., Bob Kerzner leads the world’s largest association of life insurance and financial services companies. In 2010, he led the merger of LIMRA and LOMA, which together represent more than 1,200 members across 64 countries, including most of the world’s largest life insurance companies. 

Before joining LIMRA in 2004, Kerzner was executive vice president and head of the individual life division of Hartford Life, Inc. Under his leadership, the division experienced dramatic growth and record financial performance.

Kerzner is a leading voice in the life insurance, retirement and financial services industry, recently speaking at events held by the Department of Treasury’s Federal Insurance Office (FIO), the National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC), and Life Insurance Commission of New York (LICONY).  He is regularly sought out by leading national publications, like the Wall Street Journal, Bloomberg, and USA Today, as well as a host of trade and other business media outlets, to provide insight into industry issues and trends.

Kerzner is a graduate of Central Connecticut State University.

Jeremy is recognised as a global expert in mobile financial services with a particular expertise in microinsurance and digital insurance. He has been involved in advising, researching and implementing initiatives across the world. An experienced executive in both the private and public sector, Jeremy has been a Director at BFA, a global consultancy focused on innovation in responsible financial services, where he advised and supported a number of global insurers and mobile operators. As Divisional Director and Head of Microinsurance at the Hollard Insurance Group he drove a range of insurance innovations internationally, from product development to distribution to consumer engagement. Leading Hollard’s work on m-insurance he established a partnership and pilot with MTN Group and advised on initiatives in Pakistan, China and other countries. Prior to Hollard, Jeremy was Executive Director at FinMark Trust where his leadership on insurance and mobile money had global impact. Jeremy is a Chartered Certified Accountant (UK) and holds an MSc in International Development (Bath, UK). He is a founding member and adviser to Cenfri, and a member of the IAIS-Micro Insurance Network Joint Working Group on Micro-insurance. He has served on the South African Short Term Insurance Advisory Committee at the behest of the Minister of Finance, as well as sat on the board of MicroEnsure, a specialist microinsurance intermediary that focuses on mobile insurance. He speaks regularly at international conferences on microinsurance, m-insurance, mobile money and innovation in financial services.

Arjun Mallik is CEO of Prudential Uganda, leading the business since its establishment in the country in June 2015. He has been with the Prudential Group for over 7 years and is also the Regional Head of Strategy for Prudential Africa, supporting the Group’s expansion across the continent. Arjun previously worked in private equity and has a BA in Economics from Eckerd College (USA) and an MBA from Instituto de Empresa (Spain).

Sollie is the current director of STATOMET, the Bureau for Statistical and Survey methodology at the University of Pretoria. As an associate and director of STATOMET he has been actively part of numerous data analytics solutions in the insurance and related industries. Solutions include leads generation, client retention, churn, market segmentation and other predictive models. During his career he has successfully completed projects at various insurance companies, including HSBC, Botswana Life and Liberty Life. He also has extensive exposure to risk based solutions in the telecommunications industry spanning the period from 1997. Sollie’s current applied research focusses on state of the art integrated predictive and model based segmentation solutions.

With a Maitrise in Sciences Economiques from Université Paris Sorbonne and an MBA degree from Claremont University (California), Mr. Moloko joined American Life Insurance Company (AIG Group) as Regional Accountant and Internal Auditor in 1982. He was part of the team that launched the Individual Life distribution through the agency system in West and Central Africa, leading the company to industry leadership. In 1987, he joined Colina Group (Non Life) evolving from CFO of Colina Ivory Coast to Group CFO. When Colina acquired the life subsidiary of Groupama in Ivory Coast, he was promoted CEO of Colina Life in 2003. Under his leadership, Colina Life has gone through a period of transformational change and has grown significantly organically enjoying success despite the political crisis in Ivory Coast of the past decade. In 2008, Colina Life ranked number one of the life industry in the CIMA Zone (14 French speaking countries in West and Cental Africa). In 2014, four years after the acquisition of Colina Group by SAHAM, he took over responsibility for the development and supervision of Life operations for West and Central Africa. As of today, SAHAM Life is licensed in 8 countries from 3 in 2013. Raoul Moloko serves also on the board of directors of various companies.

John has over 25 years’ industry experience holding several senior executive roles in the UK Wealth Management space. Qualified as a Chartered Financial Planner and Chartered Fellow of Securities & Investment Institute John has also been actively involved in the development of the profession in the UK having previously held prestigious roles such as Chairman of the Society of Financial Advisers and director of both IFP and Association of Professional Financial Advisers. He is a regular speaker at industry events across the UK on technology, investment and financial planning topics.

John has been at the forefront of proposition design and advice consolidation following the implementation of RDR. He has personally been involved in over £700m of M&A activity over the past 4 years.

Bernard is responsible for LIMRA’s overall operations in Europe, Middle East & Africa. Under Bernard’s leadership LIMRA Europe will deliver a market leading value proposition to better serve its membership. Bernard is an experienced insurance industry executive and consultant with over 20 years experience. 

During his career as an executive in the insurance industry, he served for more than ten years as CEO and Chairman of life insurance companies and Pension Funds in Poland, Portugal and Czech Republic. In 2003, Bernard Retali founded two companies in Barcelona: INOV Finance consulting company mainly dedicated to the insurance and bancassurance industry and INOV Insurance broker dedicated to the expat community based in Spain.

Alison Salka joined LIMRA and LOMA in 2012 and is responsible for determining and implementing the strategy and direction of its global research program. She oversees a team of more than 80 researchers and other staff professionals in the research division who conduct consumer research, benchmark studies, and white papers focused on helping member companies better understand industry issues and trends. She is also the director of the Secure Retirement Institute.

Salka previously led the retirement research and competitive intelligence team at Prudential, and was also a director of retirement research and business analytics at MassMutual. She has earned a Master’s degree and holds a doctorate.

Josh Wrench is employed by Sanlam in its Emerging Markets division. He has over 17 years’ experience working with insurers across a large number of African countries as well as some experience in India. He has performed various roles over the years, including leading the Africa division actuarial team, general management and has been heavily involved in Sanlam’s various micro-insurance products and projects across Africa.

Sanlam is the second largest insurance company in South Africa by market capitalization and has a footprint across over 34 African countries.
