WINDSOR, Conn., June 16, 2010—David Gergen, senior political analyst for CNN and advisor to four U.S. presidents, will lead a panel of political experts as the featured event at LIMRA’s 2010 Annual Conference, which will be held on Oct. 24-26, in Washington D.C.

The panel will discuss the mid-term elections, financial and health reform legislation and its impact on the financial services industry. Filling out the panel will be Paul Begala, Democratic political consultant, political commentator and former advisor to President Bill Clinton, Tucker Carlson, political news correspondent and commentator for the Fox News Channel and Cokie Roberts, American Emmy Award-winning journalist, political commentator for ABC News and bestselling author. They will provide a broad view of the current issues facing the financial services industry and the nation as a whole.

“As the nation recovers from the recent economic downturn, our industry will play a critical role in helping Americans protect against death or disability, save for retirement and ultimately achieve financial security. The broad changes in the regulatory and legislative environment may impact the way we do business; so it is important that we understand the politics behind these decisions,” said Robert Kerzner, president and CEO of LIMRA, LOMA and LL Global. “We're pleased and proud to be able to have these distinguished political minds to share their insights and political acumen with our audience.”

The conference theme “Change, Adapt, Advance!” focuses on what organizations need to do to successfully transition to the new business environment and lead to new and sustainable growth. This event provides a unique opportunity for attendees to share their experience and knowledge with their colleagues and counterparts and gain strategic insights from industry experts on issues like distribution, product development, regulation and emerging markets.

The 2010 Annual Conference program also will include a panel of CEOs discussing their strategies to overcome the current challenges facing their companies and industry at large. Members of the panel include Gary Bhojwani, president and chief executive officer, Allianz Life Insurance Company of North America; Edward B. Rust Jr., chairman and CEO, State Farm Insurance Company; and David B. O’Maley, chairman, president and chief operating officer, The Ohio National Life Insurance Company.

The meeting, which will be held at the Gaylord National Hotel & Convention Center on the Potomac in National Harbor, MD, typically draws more than 500 top executives from LIMRA member companies in the U.S., Canada and abroad.
