WINDSOR, Conn., April 25, 2013 — Timothy Geithner, the 75th United States Treasury Secretary will deliver the keynote address at the 2013 LIMRA Annual Conference which will take place Oct. 20-22, in New York City.

As Treasury Secretary, Geithner played a central role in formulating U.S. domestic and international economic policy during President Obama's first term. He was a principal architect of the president's strategy to avert economic collapse and to reform the financial system, while also tackling a broad set of international economic challenges. He served in this position from January 2009 through January 2013.

“We are thrilled to have Tim Geithner as our keynote speaker,” said Robert Kerzner, president and CEO of LIMRA, LOMA and LL Global. “Secretary Geithner certainly adds an important perspective on how to succeed after large-scale disruption. Attendees at this year’s conference will learn vital information from the Secretary and all our speakers. Our focus is on providing our member companies with actionable information and strategies.”

Geithner previously served as president and chief executive officer of the Federal Reserve Bank of New York, between 2003 and 2009. He first joined the Department of Treasury in 1988 and worked in a variety of positions in three administrations. Geithner was director of the Policy Development and Review Department at the International Monetary Fund from 2001 until 2003. Geithner earned his undergraduate degree in government and Asian studies from Dartmouth College and has a master’s degree from Johns Hopkins.

The 2013 Annual Conference theme, "Leading Through Disruption to Relevance," asks the question: Is your business still relevant in these changing times? The disruptive forces in our industry are intensifying. Only strong leadership can move organizations toward renewed relevance. Whether by choice or a product of today's business environment, executives must embrace the disruption and look to other models for innovation.

For almost 100 years executives have turned to LIMRA's Annual Conference to hear from those who have successfully led through periods of change.

All of the general session speakers and workshops will offer high-level strategy with hands–on tactics to help attendees address the various business and public policy issues affecting the financial services industry. The event offers a unique opportunity for attendees to share their experience and knowledge with their colleagues and counterparts. Leaders from the financial services industry who attend will gain strategic insights from experts on issues like distribution, product development, regulation and emerging markets.

LIMRA's Annual Conference typically draws more than 500 top executives from LIMRA member companies throughout the world.
