WINDSOR, Conn., Sept. 21, 2021 – The 2021 LIMRA Virtual Annual Conference, which will be held on Oct. 26-28, 2021, will focus on reaffirming our industry’s mission, leveraging the lessons learned during the previous year to help shape a more purposeful future.

Featured at this year’s conference is an executive panel, moderated by Mike Temple, chairman and chief operating officer at Protective Life, which will examine key external trends driving changes to the financial services industry now and in the future. Panelists include Grant Kvalheim, president and CEO, Athene USA; Neal Baumann, global insurance leader, Deloitte; and Kweilin Ellingrud, senior partner and head of McKinsey’s Life Insurance and Annuities practice in North America.

Phyllis Borzi, former assistant secretary for employee benefits security of the U.S. Department of Labor (DOL), and Fred Reish, partner at Faegre Drinker Biddle and Reath, LLP, will lead a breakout session on the new DOL fiduciary rule, “Prohibited Transaction Exemption 2020-02 (PTE 2020-02),” which goes into effect this December. The insights Borzi and Reish provide will be invaluable to carriers, broker-dealers and investment advisors preparing to comply with the PTE 2020-02 regulation.

Additional highlights of the Annual Conference program include:

“The insurance and retirement industries were already evolving at an exceptional pace — the pandemic has only accelerated that,” said Levenson. “It is critical that we continue to bring industry leaders together to share knowledge and insights so that our members will be able to navigate all of these changes as effectively as possible for customers, employees and business partners.”
