WINDSOR, Conn., June 8, 2011 Former Secretary of State Madeleine Albright will give the keynote address at the 2011 LIMRA Annual Conference in New York City on Oct. 25.
"In these tumultuous times, we are privileged to have one of the nation's leading minds on international and political matters share the experiences and observations she acquired throughout her career, culminating as the U.S. Secretary of State," said Robert Kerzner, president and CEO of LIMRA. "As a global research leader, LIMRA is pleased to be able to bring to our members Secretary Albright’s thoughtful views on America's role in the world, the global economy, current regional conflicts, the future of democracy, and the challenge of ensuring security and building peace.”
Madeleine Albright was the 64th Secretary of State of the United States. In 1997, she was named the first female Secretary of State and became, at that time, the highest ranking woman in the history of the U.S. government. As Secretary of State, Albright reinforced America’s alliances, and advocated democracy and human rights. She promoted American trade and business, as well as labor and environmental standards abroad.
From 1993 to 1997, Albright served as the U.S. permanent representative to the United Nations and was a member of President Clinton’s Cabinet. She is a professor in the Practice of Diplomacy at the Georgetown University School of Foreign Service. She chairs both the National Democratic Institute for International Affairs and the Pew Global Attitudes Project, and serves as president of the Truman Scholarship Foundation.
This year’s conference theme, Transform Potential Into Performance, focuses on what leaders can do to capture emerging opportunities and innovate their business strategies to secure future, sustainable growth for their organizations. This event provides a unique opportunity for attendees to share their experience and knowledge with their colleagues and counterparts. Leaders from the financial services industry who attend will gain strategic insights from experts on issues like distribution, product development, regulation and emerging markets.
