WINDSOR, Conn., Sept. 8, 2020 — The 2020 LIMRA LOMA Canada Virtual Annual Conference will focus on how industry leaders are grappling with unprecedented change and COVID-19 and finding ways to move the industry forward. The virtual conference will be held Sept. 29 - 30, 2020.
As opening keynote speaker, Gina Birchall, chief operating officer, LIMRA and LOMA, will talk about how the unprecedented pace of change has impacted global trends in financial services. She will share the latest key research findings and insights that can help shape strategy.
Dawn Desjardins, chief economist, RBC Economics, Royal Bank of Canada, will discuss how the global economy staggered as COVID-19 infected millions, and measures to contain its spread shuttered businesses. In Canada, the economy slumped and job losses soared. She will share her insight and outlook for Canadian business and the financial services industry.
Russ Anderson, head of financial crimes services, LL Global, Inc., will host a session titled, “Who’s Picking Your Pocket and How to Foil Them” with Kevin Askew, global chief financial crimes and anti-money laundering officer, Manulife, and Paul Stathopoulos, chief auditor, Manulife. They will talk about how criminals are becoming more sophisticated, better organized, and having a greater impact on the financial services industry than ever before.

- Adele Mossman, vice president, Individual Operations, Sun Life, will talk about how being laser focused on the customer will define the future of insurance.
- Paul R. Grimes, senior vice president, iA Financial Group, will take a close look at six crisis management lessons acquired from public relations scenarios that have taken place over the last 30 years, and advise on how we can be better prepared for the next wave.
- Frank Miemiec, vice president, Page and Associates, and Wayne G. Miller, associate vice president, Marketing and Business Development, Sun Life, will host a session titled, “Imagine a World Where Insurance Is Bought Rather Than Sold.”
As many as 100 industry leaders from 40 companies throughout Canada typically attend the conference to learn from and engage with thought leaders and industry experts who will share their knowledge, strategies and insights.
