WINDSOR, Conn., Dec. 8, 2020—LL Global, the parent company for LIMRA, LOMA, and Secure Retirement Institute^® (SRI^®), today announced the recipients of the 2020 Robert A. Kerzner Scholarship.

The Robert A. Kerzner Scholarship honors former CEO of LIMRA, LOMA, and LL Global Robert Kerzner for his contributions to the insurance industry and his more than 14 years of service. The scholarship is designed to support the continuing education and professional development of individuals working in the life insurance, disability insurance, worksite benefits, and/or health insurance industry or in retirement services.

Congratulations to Ashraf Shehab, partner support agent, Client & Partner Services, for Ontario-Canada based La Capitale Financial Security, and Maria Rowena Rodriguez, head of one of three Legal Units in Legal Services at Philippines-based Insular Life. As part of the scholarship, they are eligible to attend the following professional development courses offered by LL Global:

• The courses required to complete the Fellow, Life Management Institute designation program
• The courses required to complete the Fellow, Secure Retirement Institute designation

“We applaud these recipients’ interest in advancing their personal and professional development through a course of study with LL Global,” said Gina Birchall, chief operating officer, LL Global, LIMRA, LOMA and SRI. “Ninety percent of those who received a LOMA designation say it has helped his or her career.  In addition, 85% of students say the knowledge gained from LOMA courses was worth the time invested.”

 “When I applied for the scholarship, my initial thought was that the retirement services training would be a good complement to my background in life insurance. When I learned that I received the scholarship I could not believe it at first, and then it dawned on me that I was blessed with this learning experience that offered valuable resources and a nifty online platform,” said Rodriguez.

“It’s a great honor to be awarded with this scholarship and to be able to achieve such a milestone in my career development,” said Shehab.

Nominations for the 2021 Robert A. Kerzner Scholarship will be held in the first half of next year. Individuals employed in the life insurance, disability insurance, worksite benefits and/or health insurance industry or in retirement services are eligible to participate.
