WINDSOR, Conn., April 14, 2021—According to recent Secure Retirement Institute® (SRI®) data, only half of workers who have experienced job or income loss since March 2020 are confident they are saving enough money for retirement, compared to 63% of workers who have not experienced a loss. Retirement industry leaders representing investment, workplace savings, and annuity businesses will come together at the 2021 Retirement Industry Conference to focus on the importance of being financially prepared for retirement, particularly given the pandemic and its economic effects.

The conference, hosted jointly by SRI and the Society of Actuaries (SOA), will be held virtually May 12-13, to look at developments in the retail and institutional retirement industries.

Global Trend Watcher and Harvard Lecturer Vikram Mansharamani will open the conference with a discussion of how to look differently at the financial services industry to identify risks and capture opportunities.

Another keynote speaker, Preston Rutledge, founder and principal of Rutledge Policy Group and former head of the U.S. Department of Labor’s Employee Benefits Security Administration, will look at past retirement-related changes like the SECURE Act and pooled employer plans, and what the future holds for retirement policy and regulations.
