2022 Retirement Industry Conference to Address Retirement Unpreparedness in the U.S.

WINDSOR, Conn. April 19, 2022 — According to recent Secure Retirement Institute research, just 31% of workers feel very prepared for retirement, leaving 7 in 10 workers saying they are either somewhat prepared or not at all prepared for retirement. At the 2022 Retirement Industry Conference, to be held on May 11–13, in Boston, retirement experts and industry leaders will examine the growing retirement unpreparedness in the U.S. and explore new strategies to help ensure more people are financially secure as they retire.

“Physical and financial health are more significant to people today than before the pandemic. The pandemic-induced economic challenges — like inflation — are undermining consumers’ ability to save for retirement and upending the plans retirees have made,” said David Levenson, president and CEO of LIMRA, LOMA, and LL Global. “Our industry serves an important purpose in helping clients adequately plan for retirement. This year’s conference will give leaders the opportunity to delve into factors that are shaping the future of the retirement market.”

Levenson will open the conference, providing an in-depth update on the retirement industry, including sales and the state of the industry.

Other keynote speakers include:

Additional concurrent sessions will cover industry innovations, regulatory and compliance updates, what's going on in Washington, pooled employer plans (PEPs), annuity markets, and more through the lens of the new normal.

The conference, hosted by LIMRA and the Society of Actuaries, draws leaders across the retirement industry focused on product, marketing, distribution and strategy for both retail and institutional markets.
