Industry Experience Data Designed
with You in Mind

In 2025, LIMRA and the Society of Actuaries (SOA) expanded their partnership to a subscription model. The goal was to provide a credible and current set of experience benchmarks for various industry products to be used for reserving, pricing, and assumption setting.

Together, this partnership now brings the following to each experience study that comes to market:

  • Provides strong industry study participation
  • Provides study funding at cost with a small margin
  • Satisfies regulatory industry data needs for developing valuation standards
  • Provides a mechanism to respond to regulator questions regarding study results and underlying data

A Powerful Partnership

In the fall of 2021, LIMRA and the Society of Actuaries (SOA) Research Institute began a new partnership to collect and process data to be used in industry-wide experience studies. Areas of interest include the life, health, and retirement sectors.

In 2025, the program evolved into a subscription model, bringing together over 30 life insurers, representing nearly 80 percent of in-force premiums in the U.S. Together, these companies help guide LIMRA and LOMA and the SOA to produce experience studies that support adequate pricing, reserving, and regulatory activities across multiple product lines and risk factors.

Contact StudyPro@soa.org for details on the subscription or to answer any questions. To access your study dashboard, visit the study’s webpage here at limra.com.
