Managing Director, Latin America and the Caribbean, LIMRA and LOMA
Thad Burr has extensive business development, M and A, and business-turnaround experience. He has launched several start-up operations for companies expanding into new markets and countries. In Thad’s current role at LIMRA and LOMA, he leads the team of representatives in Latin America, the Caribbean, and English-speaking Asia responsible for delivering member benefits. Previously, he was the Partner heading Mercer’s Latin America Retirement and Pensions Practice. Before that, he worked at Aetna, Inc., to expand their business in Latin America and the Caribbean, including health and dental benefits; life and disability insurance; health care technology and analytics; and health management solutions. He joined Aetna from ACE Life, where he was Regional Division President for Latin America, and launched and managed the ACE life insurance business in nine countries in the region. Previously, he worked for MetLife, where he served in several leadership positions, including establishing and directing MetLife's Brazilian subsidiary. In his more than 20 years' experience, he has managed operations in several countries in the Americas, including Argentina, Brazil, and Mexico.
For 20 years Daniel lead the Commercial Management of a leading insurer in bancassurance in Argentina, as well as served on the executive committee. He actively participated in the transformation of a company he began in 2017, which involved the digitization of processes, changes in organizational culture, and the adoption of agile methodologies. He is also a member of the Mesa Participativa on Insurance Awareness and Culture, and the Microinsurance Working Group, both public-private initiatives.
After several corporate positions in the insurance sector, including Chief Innovation Officer, Maik entered into the entrepreneurial world in 2017. He co-founded three InsurTechs and the InsurTech Mexico Association, where he is currently Secretary. With Mango Life, he developed the first 100% digital life insurance offering in Mexico, from quotation, to underwriting, to issuance to collection and claims. He is also a Project Director in an NGO that promotes financial inclusion in rural areas through innovation and technology.
