Windsor, Conn. April 30, 2014 - David Chilton, co-star of CBC's Dragons' Den and author of Canada's all-time best-selling book, The Wealthy Barber, will deliver the closing keynote address at the LIMRA and LOMA Canada Annual Conference, May 20, 2014, in Toronto, Ontario.

The Wealthy Barber has been widely praised for its common sense approach to financial independence. Chilton recently released a follow up, The Wealthy Barber Returns. At the conference, his talk will provide a window to the world of financial services, including financial planning from the customer's point-of-view, as well as stories from the Den.

The conference opens with Robert Kerzner, president and CEO, LIMRA, LOMA and LL Global, Inc., who will discuss sales and ownership trends, as well as new initiatives such as predictive analytics, big data and social media.

"The purpose of the conference is to look differently at our business and both our speakers bring that fresh perspective," said Brent Lemanski, assistant vice president and executive director of LIMRA and LOMA Canada. "LIMRA household surveys in Canada reveal that 45 percent of respondents say they do not have enough life insurance. While that's a challenge, with a change of perspective it can become an opportunity. Those same respondents represent six million potential customers who need our help getting the right amount of life insurance coverage."

Kerzner will also moderate an executive panel on changes in consumer expectations and the impact on the industry. Panelists include: Rino D'Onofrio, president and CEO of RBC Life Insurance; Louise Mitchell, senior vice president, Life & Health for TD Insurance; Terri Mitchell, executive vice president and COO, Life and Accident & Health Group for ACE Canada; and Hanoi Morillo, digital marketing executive, financial services from Google Canada.

Other sessions will include changing communication paradigms between companies and their customers, as well as a session on understanding life insurance shopping patterns.

Now in its fourth year, the LIMRA LOMA Canada Annual Conference draws more than 100 attendees from about 50 companies throughout Canada.
