WINDSOR, Conn., May 7, 2018 – LIMRA and LOMA announced today that the annual 2018 Canada Conference will take place on June 7, 2018 at the Manulife headquarters in Toronto.

Several sessions will follow the theme of the event, Ain’t Misbehavin’: Hippies, Hipsters and Headwinds, as top industry experts and professionals examine factors challenging industry growth, debunk beliefs from the hippie era and why some regulatory changes are needed.

In her morning keynote presentation Navigating through Headwinds: Data Analytics is the Compass, Marianne Purushotham, corporate vice president of research shared services, LIMRA, will explore the journey of a life insurance shopper and what drives them to make a purchase. She will also release results from applications that use predictive analytics and explain how this data can help companies make decisions.

Dr. Bruce Empringham, vice president and medical director, Great-West Life, London Life and Canada Life, will discuss the impact of decriminalizing recreational cannabis. He will evaluate the potential risks and benefits of marijuana use, shared from the perspective of a doctor, an underwriter and a father.

Olympic gold medalist Jon Montgomery will also be speaking about his journey from growing up in a small town to becoming a top athlete. His afternoon keynote speech will speak to the power of belief in yourself and the confidence that you can accomplish anything you set out to do.

Additional conference sessions:

More than 100 industry leaders from as many as 40 companies throughout Canada will attend the conference to learn from and engage with thought leaders and industry experts who will share their knowledge, strategies and insights.
