2019 Apex Award logo.jpgWINDSOR, Conn., and Atlanta, Aug. 29, 2019—LIMRA’s MarketFacts, SRI Review, and LOMA’s Resource magazines have been recognized by APEX as 2019 winners of the Awards for Publications Excellence.

LIMRA’s MarketFacts won a Grand Award in the Magazines, Journals and Tabloids category for its Number 3, 2018 issue. Of the nearly 1,300 entries, MarketFacts was one of only 18 publications in its category to receive a Grand Award — the highest recognition the Apex judges can present.

“We had a phenomenal response to this issue,” Mary-Beth Selby, editor-in-chief of MarketFacts remarked. “Content included articles/interviews from two industry CEOs, an overview of future trends from LIMRA research, two commentaries addressing fraud — which is top-of-mind for our audience — and an up-front focus section on Workplace Benefits. I am so proud of all our contributors and the fantastic design work that went into its creation. We are truly honored by this recognition.”

MarketFacts is also a finalist in three categories — editorial, magazine design and cover design — for a 2019 Folio Award. Winners will be announced Oct. 30.

LOMA’s Resource magazine won an Award of Excellence in the Technology Writing category for the article “CIOs Discuss Strategy, Challenges and Changes.”  The article, by Resource Senior Editor Tammy Appel, featured interviews with the chief information officers of four leading life insurers.

“The Resource staff is very gratified to win this award,” says Ron Clark, editor and publisher of LOMA’s Resource magazine. “One of our purposes is to keep LOMA members informed about the top technology issues in our industry.”

In addition, LIMRA’s SRI Review — a publication that provides actionable insights and fresh perspective on the retirement market — won an Award of Excellence for Issue 2-2018 in the Most-Improved Magazines, Journals, and Tabloids category. Stephanie Wright, editor of SRI Review, worked along with the LOMA graphics team to redesign the magazine in 2018.

“Our redesign was truly a collaborative effort to better showcase our commitment to the retirement industry and we could not be more thrilled with the outcome,” says Stephanie Wright, editorial director of LIMRA’s SRI Review. “To be recognized for it is an honor.”

In its 31st year, APEX is an international competition that recognizes outstanding communications from publishers, editors, writers, and designers who create print, Web, electronic, and social media. Hundreds of national and international organizations enter the competition every year. With close to 1,300 entries, competition was exceptionally intense.
