WINDSOR, Conn., Sept. 15, 2020— Mahatma Gandhi said, “Our ability to reach unity in diversity will be the beauty and the test of our civilization.” Diversity and inclusion are no longer simply ‘nice to have.’ It is a business imperative for every industry. That is why LIMRA is hosting an executive panel titled, Diversity and Inclusion: Leading the Change at its 2020 Virtual Annual Conference on Oct. 26-28.

Moderated by Michael Hyter, chief diversity officer at Korn Ferry, this panel will address racial and gender diversity in the financial services industry. Lorraine Hariton, president and chief executive officer, Catalyst; George Nichols, president and chief executive officer, The American College of Financial Services; and Tim Ryan, U.S. chair and senior partner, PwC, will discuss why diversity matters in today’s business environment.

“As leaders, we all have a responsibility to drive real change for our industry,” said Dave Levenson, president and CEO, LIMRA, LOMA and LL Global. “Mike, Lorraine, George and Tim are at the forefront of helping all of us get better at inclusion and diversity. We’re thrilled that they’re joining our flagship conference to share a macro-view about what’s working and where we need to focus.”

In addition to this important panel discussion, Austan Goolsbee, former chair of the President’s Council of Economic Advisors under President Obama and current professor of economics at the University of Chicago Booth School of Business, will explore how economic innovation is critical to remaining competitive in the 21st century.

Additional highlights of the conference include:

Traditionally, the LIMRA Annual Conference has been one of the largest gatherings of executives representing all sectors of the financial services industry. Although virtual, this year will be no different. Throughout the three-day event, there will be half-hour breaks to visit a virtual exhibit hall and network in chat lounges.
