Former U.S. Secretary of State and Retired Army General to Headline October Meeting in Boston

WINDSOR, Conn., May 18,2015 — LIMRA today announced that former U.S. Secretary of State and retiredArmy Gen. Colin L. Powell will deliver the keynote address at the LIMRA 2015Annual Conference, which will be held Oct. 25–27, 2015 in Boston.

Powell was chairman of theJoint Chiefs of Staff, 1989–1993, and secretary of state, 2001–2005, the firstAfrican American to hold those posts. The son of Jamaican immigrants, Powellgrew up in New York City and served in four presidential administrations.
